When starting out in D4, It seemed my car wouldnt get out of 3rd gear...I pulled over, put the car in park and turned it off. I started the car again, and the problem was fixed. Then later on, my car did the same thing. Is this a one time thing or a sign of my transmission going out. i noticed when this happens, the D4 light in the dash is lite up before i even put it into gear. Any suggestions?

Get the code from the TCU to be sure.
