got a question. my car doesn't smoke at idle, doesn't smoke at WOT but it throws out a decent light bluish cloud of smoke after you let off the gas from a WOT pull. puffs a lil bit of smoke out while driving around normal through the gears without hitting boost when u let off the gas. Motor is a b16 with CTR pistons, i just installed the brand new precision journal bearing turbo on it, running a 4AN line with no oil restrictor and no catch can. Oil drain has no kinks in it and is draining properly. don't know whether it's the turbo to blame or the motors excessive crankcase pressure.
compression test results were 221, 223, 225, 222 across the board. less than 4% leakdown all across the board as well. does anyone think a catch can will solve the smoking issues? if so should I just run the traditional 2 bungs from the valve cover?

I highly doubt it's anything internal wise, the motor is VERY healthy. head is pretty fresh to all new seals and built head. gonna purchase a catch can within the next week here and change the feed line on the turbo to a 3AN from my current 4AN and hope for the best.
I posted this in the catch can thread already, but here it is for you again.
precision turbo recommended running an unrestricted -4AN line for my journal sc61 aswell. I researched on here and it seems like thats only true on a domestic motors producing lower max oil pressure. Lot's of guys had smoking issues when running a -4 on a honda motor. In the end all switched to a -3AN line and the smoking stopped. What I got out of it was -4 is just too much oil and running a -3 is a better solution to not over oil the turbo and push oil past it's seals.
hope that helped.

Our engine builder said to just use thicker oil. He used 20-50 non synthetic Valvoline and smoke is gone. Try that and let us know...GL

I called precision back when I was boosting my car because I was unsure of the whole restrictor/no restrictor debate. I was told NOT to run a restrictor on my journal bearing turbo and to USE a -3 feed. I've been driving it hard for over a year now and have not had any issues with smoking. Like already mentioned by someone. Try that first.
