Default Timing belt very loose

B18c5 gsr head. Car was idling, no miles on motor yet, heard horrible rattling noise, belt hitting plastic cover, turned car off as quickly as possible. Not metal noise that I heard.

So what should I do, re tighten belt and see if car runs, or pull head off and check everything?

12.5:1 comp. Built head bc valves, springs etc sk2p1 cams

I would check belt tension first. I wouldn't run the engine again until you find the problem.

Align your timing back to TDC to see if it jumped time. Then I would re tighten your timing belt again.

did you cycle the engine multiple times by hand counterclockwise when you installed the timing belt? if you didn't and tightened the tensioner before hand this is what caused your problem

Well my cousin actually set the timing b4 I got there he's done many many b4 so I'm cannot exactly say what he did. I did just order the gates belt. The tensioner moved, but is not loose. I do not know exactly how much compression the motor has, however I do know turning the motor over by hand seemed to "wrinkle" the timing belt. Car was run quite a few times just sitting in the garage. Very confused will reset timing w new belt and see what happens!!!!!

this post doesn't even make sense

ignition timing has ZERO to do with setting the belt up right

the belt also does not wrinkle when you spin the motor counter clockwise, it does when you spin it clockwise.

read the timing belt DIY on here and follow it to the T

this engine is going to wind up with a valve in a piston at the rate you're going

These motors are only meant to be turned counter clockwise.

yeah, that is your problem if you are turning it clockwise... no way to get the belt tensioned at all, and it likely has jumped some teeth...

well its running again.appears as if the tensioner came loose. Bought a gates belt, a new tensioner bolt, and reset the timing, and torqued the tensioner bolt. hope everything is ok now. thanks everyone!!!
