What oil to use for turbo app?
Search!!!!!
But since you're new, 5w30 full synthetic (Mobil 1)
Or royal purple (my preference)
Edit: Oh yeah, even though full synthetic, you still will want to change it every 2-3000 miles.

Thanks!! Just wanted to make sure that the 5-30w is ok for turbo useage. The heat breaks the oil down alot quicker and that was my concern.

This... But I recommend 0w30. It burns less in start up to normal operating tempatures.. If you live in a relatively warm climate, then you should be good with 5w30
I have acutally been using Delo 15W-40, This oil is manufactured to run in the Chevrolet Turbo Deisel engines. The oil itself has allot of detergents and handles the heat of the engine very well. My engine has stayed Shiny clean and does not burn it off either.
i've been using shell rotella T6 5w40 with good luck.
if the cost of royal purple was reasonable i would use that all the time. it does work really good.

Im running rotella 15w 45 in my sohc right now. main reason is when I pulled my h22 out to part it out it had fresh oil in it and this D is just a pos beater for right now. works good so far.
How long can you run that before it seems to break down some (indicated by reduced hot idle oil pressure or whatever you would tend to look to)?
I was running this when I threw a rod in the spring, and the bearings looked great. Both ends of the rod were still within the engine and looking perfect. The rod bearing looked just like the rest of them. The beam had exited the engine!
At any rate, I was impressed by the oil. If I was comfortable just running mineral based oil, I'd run it.
