DIY EGR job question...
My friend's fiance asked me to change the EGR valve and clean the port out on her 2001 Accord V6. I worked at a dealer as an express tech and PDI tech, I have my own tools, etc. and I used the ISIS Service Bulletin for this job.
Everything went smoothly as far as the work. I cleaned the port out really good and replaced the valve. But the light came back on and now I don't know what else to do. It's the same code as it was last time. This should be a pretty straight forward procedure but it's not turning out that way...
Any suggestions or advice is highly appreciated. Thank you.

When I initially did the work, yes I manually cleared the code and it was fine and I returned the car to the owner. But they called me back saying that the code came back up and it's the same one P0401.
I used a drill bit to clear out the build up on the intake manifold and flushed it out with brake cleaner. If I kept going with the drill bit, I'd be drilling out the metal of the manifold.
The part that you're talking about, is that located on the block? If so, is that safe to do? Just wondering how all that build up would be flushed out. I talked to a tech that I worked with at the dealer and he said if I can't get the code to clear after inspecting the manifold and ports again, then my friend is just going to have to get a new manifold to put on.
