Default spark plugs burnt out, now metallic noise?

i can't seem to get a solid answer, so here gose the ramble story

couple weeks ago i went for a 20 min. cruise. after rippin a couple times, i got a bad misfire and under power. shut the car off, checked over the engine bay for oil out the breather and fallen off vacuum lines, or a plug wire off the cap. I found nothing wrong with it. limped home and ran decent as long as i didn't go past half throttle. checked the spark plugs, and was running rich. ohmed the center electrode to the nipple, and found high resistance. so i replaced the spark plugs. I kept them to .020", the same as they were at the tune. started the car, and runs normal. at idle i noticed a metallic clacking noise. not very noticable, but to a tech it is. went for a run, still plenty of power how it was before this happend. When i got back, still had the noise. checked the oil, and there is a small film of grey (usually rod bearing failure).

Could the spark plug not burning the whole mixture cause a detonation in boost (bad misfire) and cause me to hammer my rod bearings?

this is a 300whp B16 t3t4 57trim on 16 lbs. Thank you for any help

You sure one of the plugs didnt crack and fall in the head and thats causing the noise.Quite a few people have had that happen to them after detonation occured.

sounds like lower end.
inspected spark plugs, and no broken off pieces.
i'm going to end up using a stethascope to pinpoint the noise, just was wondering if overfueling while in boost could cause detonation. might have to borrow a boro scope and check the pistons, or do a compression test. power still seems fine though.

Over fueling can cause the cylinder walls to wash out and scare them up possibly causing knocking if you really do some damage, Doubt that tho. If you were running to much timing or not enough that can stress the bearings, OR if you had to tight of bearing clearances you could have heated them up and starved em for oil.. Lots of variables, Was the engine blueprinted if built? What bearing were used if built? Or is it original, Just throwing out ideas..
