Cold Idle problem - fitv?

Default Cold Idle problem - fitv?

have a b18 swapped hatch have been having coldstart problems in subzero temps also intermittent roaming idle problems and a generally rough idle before the car is warm i am in the process of cleaning the iacv and i noticed that its pretty clean but the fitv has no lines running to it i was wondering if it could be blocked off if i were to t into lines could i hook it back up and solve my problems

they sell block off plates on ebay but this is going to get rid of your fast idle warm up. you will only achieve maybe 1000rpms through your iacv being all the way open on a chipped ecu and u will have to use your foot to keep the idle high until it warms up. this is how i run mine and it sucks when its cold out it wont stay started with your foot off the peddle.

IMO, you should reconnect the FITV coolant hoses, remove any block off plate, and then clean and adjust the FITV. Click the FITV link in my signature.

ya i want to hook it back up and get it functioning properly but the only coolant lines i see are going to the iacv duz it normally run into the front of the fitv then out the back to the iac then return off the back of that or duz each one have its own feed and return love sorting out other peoples lazyness haha

awsome i dont have that in the old chiltons i cleaned the iacv and i still have a roaming idle it seems to happen when i kick the fans to high its defly itermitten the iacv seemed pretty clean it never did this last winter and i havent messed with anything im gonna try to clean and hook up the fitv but that is more for cold start it bumps the idle high til it warms up right? the hoses are routed right to the iacv and i think the fitv is blocked off i didnt have time to pull it apart just for ***** and grins i might clean the iacv again but it might be going bad thanks for all the help very informative

Block the FITV port inside the throttle body with your finger to see if the hunting idles stops.

ill have to give that a try its normally when it warms up so ill have to wait till its doing it and try that it defly runs rough when its cold so i need to hook up the fitv again and see what that duz also thanks for the tip

tried blocking it off when it started again no change could i did get water on the fuse panel awile ago could that be the problem at all i unhooked the bat ang let it dry out tho and it seemed to be fine after that

i know the kid that built it advanced the timing 2 degrees could it be mis timed?
