Default b18c problem

hey guys im new to the site and to the whole engine building scene...
ive had built motors before and i know how they work but ive never done it myself..
so i have a jdm b18c type r and just last week i got a spun bearing so tommarow i will be pulling my engine out and pulling it apart... where should i start first?? should i take the head off or just pull the whole motor out and start from the bottom just cause thats where the problem is?? anything i should watch out for before taking it out and apart?
thanks in advance.

pull the oil pan and inspect damage. if you got REALLY lucky you might be able to just add new bearings. it's rare you don't scar a crank or rod but possible. the real question is why the bearing spun in the first place

i was gona ask that question but it slipped my mind.. but why would a bearing spin? and i already pullued the oil pan theres alot of metal in the pan. im sure the crank and rods are scarred because the knocking sound was pretty loud..
