thank you essex , ive just confirmed with a racer in field that the sfwd class isnt looking for much ,for 8.5 cert ... somthing about there must be a X in the back bars where the rear seat belt brackets are and in the very back where the parachute mount is . ANY BODY WANNA CONFIRM THAT ????
im kinda short i weight alittle over 115 lbs im running a twin disk and i like being cramped in the seat to the dash i did make the seat bracket already i was just going to install a brace to the center mainhoop bar to the back of the seat for extra support , is there a minimum distance from seat to main or helmet to main hoop ?? And the floor plates are 6"by6" quarter inch thick, im positive they will fly .
Also might be the pic but is your main hoop plum? Kind of looks like its tilting to the back up top.
Get ahold of the guy that is going to cert you cage. From the first pic i can tell that the D bar isn't correct. The D bars need to run down to a bar that runs from door seal to door seal. and if the seat is already mounted, it looks to far from the main hoop. Maximum of 6" from roll bar to driver’s helmet (from nhra rule book). Not trying to discouraged you. just trying to help. it sucks when you get everything welded and think your finished. But then get failed and have to go and cut an fix it.
Damn 1/4 inch thick plate?! Really? You just need 1/8 inch. How is your down bar hooked to your A piller? And no you dont need an X bar in the back, but where ever your bars going down need to be attached to the a 6x6 plate. A problem you might have is your rocker bar. Some techs say it needs to be attached to a 6x6 and not the main hoop. Others have allowed it to main hoop, that might be your only issue. Pass that looks good for me.

yea that was somthinng i was a little concerded about but like i said im 5"2 i weight 115 lbs so i need to use the back of the seat to press against so i can push my clutch in ,"its a cc twin disk" its like a rock ..... Should i just tilt the seat back to get the clearence i need ? ru sure it wont fly ,i made it to be comfortable for me ?
they are around on some different forums. your best bet is to just get an nhra rulebook, those are good up to 8.50's. when you get into sfi 25. series stuff (sub 8.50's) you have to buy the rule book from the sfi foundation
heres a link to some more info. the picture in this is wrong, that style cage is only good to 8.50's, it says 7.50's. 7.50's needs at least a 25.5

That hoop is way to far back from your helmet. YOu being small or not and needing to push off the seat, you should have the hoop closer then
A decent tech is going to catch this for sure, either move the seat or the bar and save yourself the fail

Im getting some mixed answers on this issue, ill let you know when I get a definite answer. you could also get an nhra rulebook. I dont have one for some reason.
