Quick question for you 4dr EF owners with power locks
from outside of the driver side, can you use your key to UNLOCK all the doors by holding the key in the unlock position?
yes or no.
thanks.

thanks.
huh, ok.
what happens when you LOCK the door? from outside or inside manually (not pressing the switch, but the popsicle lever)

Thanks again. Jagoffs in integra forum were useless.
Im sure if you use a central lock mechanism from a newer model you can get the option you are looking for if you aren't wanting an aftermarket solution.
Clipsed I was contemplating that. Actually taking it from a toyota, my friends 94 corolla has the feature! Wtf Honda? Anyway, I don't think its so easy since the door locks may not have a sensor for unlocking, just locking. And honestly I don't want to unlock it all the time, just when I want to.
Plus its kinda annoying now that the passenger side ALWAYS locks when I lock the driver side. I can see myself locking the passenger in if I'm too quick to open and lock my door. So its kinda pointless now that I think about it to have even installed the driver side power door lock, when all I ever wanted was to be able to lock/unlock from the driver side, so I don't have to remind my passengers every time we get out. I could have done this with just installing the passenger power door lock and a switch. Wouldn't even need the control box. Hmmmmmm...

On second thought, no I need the control box just to switch the polarity to the passenger door lock, but really that's it. Well whatever...
Actually I understand how you feel I too dislike it but deal with it for now as its not top priority on my list. Iirc the 2000ish accord I think has the feature to unlock just the driver and on the second key turn the rest of the passengers doors. I honestly think it will be better to just use an aftermarket set up and locate the main module to be in the cabin.
The way honda set up these locks is ancient technology I couldn't even set up my alarm which has a programmed ability to unlock the drivers door first and passengers second without a bit of ingenius wiring whereas the aftermarket systems have these features built right in.
If you want some more info or looking into an aftermarket setup lmk and ill see what I can find and recomend you.

yeah no, at this point i got what i needed, a switch on the driver side. im going to depin the driver door lock so it doesnt lock the passenger side. its more than redundant when i have a switch already. id go and rip it out, but im too lazy for that. depinning is much easier.
im really not interested in an aftermarket setup, especially not now. but i agree, the realization that im working with 20 year old stuff has pretty much set in.
thanks again tho. it all makes sense now.

yeah... if i wired power and ground to it, it would reverse the polarity the same way the control box would for just 1 door. i used only 3 of the 5 wires to that switch and basically used it only as a rocker switch. but it also is the polarity gateway for the window motor. sigh. well now i know.
if anyone wants to simply add a power door lock to the passenger side, i can do a write up. lol.
btw, im talking about how i used this switch. i installed it the same exact way on the driver side, except only used 3 of the 5 wires. im certain now i could have just accomplished what i wanted with just the 2 components and clever wiring.

this is my power window thread.
