1. Do a search, do lots of reading, search for hours even. It's been covered eleventy billion times.

2. Set goals based on a real budget and goals.

3. Gather all parts needed to attain said goal so that **** isn't half assed (too many cars out there like that already)

4. Search some more

The B18C is very popular....

- strong block and makes more tq than smaller engines!
- reliable
- proven performance

I wouldn't worry about the intake manifold much, many people back to a single stage to keep things simple. As far as a poor man type R, really, it just means run better cams and bumping up compression....means more power

the gsr in stock form isnt too great of a motor, but it does have its attributes. My buddy and I raced a while back, my LS vs his GSR, and it was even every race. If youre on a budget and also want vtec, get an LS motor and put a gsr/b16 head on it and youll be making the same power if not more than the gsr would in stock form. If I had 1000 bucks for a swap id go the ls/vtec route, only because the ls is cheap and easy to come by.

i was originally leaning towards a gsr, but now i've decided my money would be better spent on a 2nd gen jdm b20b.

meaning changing out the dual runners of the gsr intake manifold to a skunk2 or blox intake manifold making it look like a b16 or type R head and also making it flow better.
