Default Non drastic weight reduction

i would like to reduce any excess weight of my car, but its technically my parents', so, whatever i do cant be too extreme or my mom will not be happy.
i also dont have very much money to spend, so i probably wont be replacing things, just removing them. thanks!

even relatively drastic reductions don't really net drastic results .

it would help to know what car you're driving, but not much..

if you're not prone to flats, leave the spare and jack at home- 20..30lbs? Accords typically have about a 15 gallon fuel tank.. you could save around 45lbs if you leave it half full.

Ok, well then sit there and not believe it. I guess we have nothing else to offer.

What is so hard to believe? You want "non-drastic" weight reduction, which basically eliminates stripping the car, spending a decent chunk of change on lighter wheels, lighter engine/drivetrain parts, or light body panels.

You are pretty limited. Trust me, if it was so easy to get rid of weight, a lot of people would already be way ahead of you and/or Honda would have done it.

I don't know, it kinda sounds like you should listen to speedooo and just leave it alone.

Thats SO RIDICULOUS! There will be no measurable differences in "HP gain," or fuel consumption. But we hope you enjoy the lack of luxuries supplied by Honda. When you really are in need of that hanger, or floor mat, just remember..MAD VTEC HP!

lol. well, i have never used the hanger, never seen anybody use the hanger, and dont plan to use the hanger (i did it mostly for the lulz). and the mats, they are actually kinda heavy, they dont serve me any useful purpose, and they were in pretty awful shape.
my main point was there were still things left untried and unmentioned.

The reason no one suggested those options to you is because it's ridiculous and pointless. We all figured you were looking for beneficial suggestions, not ridiculous, pointless ideas. BUT it is your car (or your parents'), so have at it.

Other useless ideas include removal of your:
Seat belt
Steering wheel
Shift **** (if 5-speed) (If Automatic, then remove your entire shift assembly!)
Radio control *****
Head-rest
Glove compartment
AC Condenser
Heater Core
Rear-view mirror
Lug nuts (who needs'em?)
And many more! Just be imaginative!

Good luck! Before you know it, your car will be 5-10Lbs lighter! You'll be hittin vtec in no time!

Referring to the fact that WE are foolish for not thinking of the floor mats or the OS hands/hooks is not helping your cause.

Are you kidding me? That's not weight reduction, that's accidently losing floor mats or knocking off a hook. That has happened to a ton of cars, and it won't help you in the slightest.

If you know of REAL "things", why are you asking us? Since we obviously have nothing to add, perhaps it's time to let the cat out of the bag?

Trust me, if you have "non-drastic" and NON-RIDICULOUS weight reduction suggestions for a daily driver (that has to appear as it was bought!) we would like to hear them. It would make a good thread.

drive naked, lose weight, also make sure you go take a dump before you drive

or you can just take off your brake assembly...i can guarantee you that would be an awesome idea since your mommy and daddy cant see that stuff behind your steelies and hubcaps and that stuff is only there to get in the way...think about it, it would be a win/win for everyone

Well if that's the case maybe you can enlighten the rest of us about how to reduce weight without spending money or doing anything drastic.

I await your findings with baited breath.

BTW, how much do those little plastic hangers weigh?.....lol

This thread is full of fail!

Good luck with school.

My thoughts exactly Ghost.

Because your suggestions are not REAL weight reduction. I explained this already, 5 pounds off your car gets you no where. Plus, your two ideas would either be noticed by your parents or in the case of your floor mats, just lead to more problems (dirty carpet).

You seem to be unable to grasp the concept that your thoughts about this subject are not worth doing and are a waste of time. And you know what, that's fine in the end because it's your car. If you want to start taking things off your car for no real gain or logical reasoning, go crazy.

Just keep in mind we are only trying to help you out and save you time in these criticisms.

Save your money, buy the car off your parents, do some nice modifications (or don't), live happily ever after, end thread.

I know exactly what vtec is. Do you?

Don't take any of the above criticism personally, because we don't know you. Just do some research for yourself and figure out some smart ways of upgrading (not downgrading).

Cheers, and Happy Holidays from my CG3!

END THREAD!
