Default DOHC ZC axle problem

Ok I have a dohc zc and an 88 si trans. My car is a 90 dx, dx hubs and I know I can use dx os si axles. But my axle for some reson on driver side is hitting the btm of the block when it spins. Shop says i need an intermediatte shaft but I told them I thought you need it with The zc trans only.. so what's going on here what do I need to do? Thanks HT

Ya the part of the axle that goes into the trans on drivers side axle. when it rotates like when youre driving it hits the btm of the block lightly but its still noticeable and you can see a groove it has made.

And this is my 4th axle I've tried.. first two from advance auto and the second two were from vatozne. But what I noticed The afstermarket axels from the auto shops have humps on the trans side compared to this regular oem style axle which is smoothly round. Maybe I need an OEM axle off a stock car? Does that make sense? Lol I think that's what it is.

Well cars at the shop and I'm like twos hours from it haha but Idk its hard to explaithe axles I got from advance and autozone aren't just perfectly round cylinders they all have three raised humps so I'd imagine that's what's hitting. I could draw it but I'd do it on my computer not on my cell lol

the only way that could be happening is if the CV joint is not going straight in the tranny and is cocked off axis. this wouldnt be an engine problem. or maybe the tranny is not completely flush and mated to the engine. i dunno how thats possible, but i dont know how what youre saying is possible either.

id wait or get jlicrx to chime in on this...

Never seen an axel rub on the block and I have used advanceauto axels on ZC swap with no problems.

You will probably need to post pics.

Ill try and get some pics from the shop.. could it possibly be because I have the 88 si trans? Because I've heard the 88 year si crx been called the bastard year so you think that might be a possibility? I hope not cuz that trans. Is good and I just bought a new clutch for it and looked forever to find a 88 flywheel lol. If anyone has any idea please chime in. And merry Christmas everyone!

88 has nothing to do with it. only difference is the spline count. it wouldnt even bolt up if that was the case.

Like Tyson said, it has nothing to do with it being an 88. I personally did a dohc zc with 88 si trans/axles in an 88 crx Si. Everything was just fine.

Like everyone else, Ive also done this swap,.. with a 91 si trans tho, with no prob.
Dude the only thing i can come up with after reading everyone else's comments and what not..Here's my two cents. One of you mounts isn't on right, or off just a bit. I would check the major 3 mounts, (engine, trans and T-bracket.) Im almost sure its that..unless its worse, your car has been in an accident and your frame is tweak a lil bit. just my two cents. Good luck Bro.

thanks for the help so far guys and if anyone else has any ideas please lmk
