My car just got hit and run, what do I do?
Ok, so I'm going to class this morning and see that my car has been the victim of a hit and run, no one left a note. The driver side front bumper was hit and I'll need a new corner bumper lens. The bumper also has a slight uphill little bump in it, as well as some minor paint damage. Overall, it isn't that bad, realistically all I can do is get a new bumper lens.
But what should I do? Leave a note near the complex where I think the culprit lives? Call my insurance and see if they'll pay for it? Call the cops? What?

I am a cop so I can tell you what to do:
1. Notify the police department and tell them where the car was
2. Call your insurance company and see if they can cover the damage
3. If so, you are good to go.
4. If not, you will most likely pay for it yourself because these kind of things don't usually hold high priority with the police.

I've been involved in a hit and run, i was returning from class and i saw that my rear bumper was hella scratched. i reported it to the parking structure, but they didnt do anything about it. since the person hit you in your apt complex, i would go around looking for the car and try to match up the sratch marks on your car with his/hers.
about the insurance. if your deductable is lower than the price to fix everything, then you might want to give it a shot. but other than that, its not worth it, i think you'll end up with a higher premium
point in case: new corner bumper lens and front bumper
, new metal sheet, hid, jdm front conversion
im sorry to hear that, i went through the same situation as you, except that it happened IN school and on the passenger side
I told the school police but they didn't do anything about it, so i have to pay for all the damage. But yea, if you know who did it, then call the cops. good luck

Same thing happened to a friend of mine. Police were unable to do anything ... even with the culprit car, with his paint still on it, returning to the apartment complex weekly..
he moved out of the complex... its a good thing he got out of there when he did... i think the culprit car backed over a homemade spike strip that took out all 4 of his tires

same thing happened to me... my teg had less than 10K on it and somebody plowed into the drivers side, pushing the car 6" from where i parked.. total damage was around $800... never found out who did it...
