looking at the 2011 civic si's
As far as I know the 3rd gear problem is gone, because they redesigned the trans and that is what the repair is on the old trans, you basically get a redesigned trans when they do the repair, and the fix is worked in to all the 6 speeds that are now on the new cars on the lots.
I think I'm going to wait until I see in the flesh the 2012 car before I buy, there will be plenty of 2011's around after the new car makes it to the lots, at that time I may be able to get a 11 at a better price if I don't care for the looks of the 12.
I wish they would dump those cloth seats that catch every piece of lint and what ever I'm constantly cleaning them to look decent.

Yeah 09+ are all straight. Like bee guz said they redid the tranny and gear shift module. I haven't once taken my car to the dealer for anything since I bought it. No problems so far *knocks on wood*.
thanks for the info guys.
well, now it is just a matter of trying to convince the wife. She wants a tundra to protect our 19 month old from all the crazy drivers.
my pitch about the side curtain air bags on the civic didnt seem to do much for her...
we'll see which one we buy on sunday...
