I have a 1997 honda crv with 154,800 miles. I bought the car three days ago and while driving I noticed it would randomly start to heat up to about 3/4 on the gauge. When it does this I turn the heat on full and it will slowly drop back down. I also noticed that when the guage shows 3/4 my fans arent running.. Checked the fuse, relay, and fans. Could this be a thermostat problem? Or a fan switch?

Have you checked the coolant level in the radiator (not the overflow reservoir)?

 

Yea the radiator is full when the cap is off and engine is cold and doesnt drop down once it heats up....the reservoir is also at max
