Default H2B MPG

Word on the street is that the H2B setup is great for racing, but not so great for DD due to the short 5th gears in B16 and ITR transmissions. Fact or foe? It would be nice to hear from H2Bers who drive their cars everyday. What kind of mileage are you getting? With a stock B16, @ 135km/hr (85mph) one can achieve very respectable mileage. What will you get at these speeds out of an H2B?

My own setup (slow in progress) will use an LS 5th gear in a B16 trans. It will help, but a limited amount. I would need an LS final drive to have a true LS 5th gear. Input towards custom transmissions would also be interesting.

I had a cable b17 tranny with a 89mm h22 that was somewhat fully built minus a big stroke. it got around 26-28mpg around town and around 30mpg hwy. I think its all in the tune. Iv had stock turbo motors that got 18mpg cause the tuner I took them too didn't give a **** about partial throttle tuning. now I do all my own tuning and Im shooting for 40mpg with my new sohc turbo lol.

nice. I'd be psyched on 26-28 mpg. 30 highway! All in the tune... Perhaps the gearing thing is less important than people think.

my buddy just went from a full jdm b16 swap to an h23a blue, h2b setup with b16 trans and he see's it burning around the same amount of gas as the b16 did.
