Default hondata s300 or aem ems v1

i currently have the s300 unit (not installed, build not done) but i came across the aem unit for a good deal. i wouldnt be paying cash for it because i did some work on a locals car and he offered it to me instead of paying me for the job. i have no real plans of doing anything other than dd'ing this thing no turbo either.

so to the people that know, which unit is better suited for my build right now and later on down the line if i do go with a bigger displacement/longer stroke but still under 12.5 comp?

im sure somebody will ask, there are a few local dynos and tuners that have done some good stuff that are familiar with both aem and hondata.

If the aem is a version 1 box older then a 1040 i.e. aem 1000 I would use the hondata instead.
