suspension choice
Im getting ready to upgrade my suspension and have a few choices but im not very educated when it comes to suspensions this will be my first name brand set. It is for my 96 civic 4dr lx and it is a dd for my family so it has to be comfortable. Im currently considering function and forms type 1, tein basics, megan ez, and progress 2 being my least choice. Im currently running 15x8 +25 axis og oldskools but they may be changing soon but car is still going to be lowered not really slammed. Prefer not to stiff or bouncing want close to stock feel or smoother. Doesnt have to be these brands just a few ive researched and liked so if have other opions by all means post im on a budget prefer no more than $700-$800.
Why is progress CS-II your least favorite choice? It's the suspension forums number one pick for budget suspension for the most part.
I just installed mine yesterday and the car rides great. I wish I had gone with 500F/350R instead of 350/350 though.

mostly because they're ugly but they look cheap made as well i want a nice product but its gotta look good as well, no offense. Also because i called wek sos while doing research and they said they dont carry them because they are low end but they do carry all the others i've listed other than the megan ez. I'm not saying they're not an option because there one of the ones im considering.

Basing a coilover by how it looks is very stupid, and will get you a pretty coilover that sucks. Remember, It is under your car, and is going to get to dirty. Sorry if I came of as a a-hole.
I can tell you from experince, Tein basic's suck. They are very well known to blow at or below a 2'' drop. I have driven a car with them countless times, and I can tell you I would rather have a function and form coilover.
Function form's arent horrible coilovers, they do what they were made to do, and do it pretty well. That being, go low and having a pretty good ride. Which they do. My friend had type 1's and they were great, handled good, and rode good, while pretty low. Now he has type 2's, I have noithing bad to say about those coilovers.
I dont personaly have any first hand experience with the meagan coilovers, so I cant really say anyting. I have read/ been told good and bad things about them.
Depending on how low you want to be, I would say look into lowering springs and a good shock. H&R or Eibach springs with a koni STR-T would be good.
lol, really? The progress coilovers were made to perform, and they do that very well.

Read around, and especially read all 28 pages of progress' for sale thread. Plenty of customer feedback and people who have been using their stuff for years.
I can't believe (wait, yes i can) that you said "it looks cheap"
Just because it isn't powdercoated bright neon orange doesn't mean it isn't high quality. In this case, what it means is that they care about function, not form. Bisimoto holds world records using products from this company.

Then you could pick a H&R Race spring, this spring will get you pretty low. Due to this, they have higher spring rates, and will ride a little stiffer.
Or, another option is runing Koni/gc. You will still get the koni sport, but runing a ground control coilover, instead of lowering springs. This is about $799 shipped from thm as well.
This setup is highly reccomended by almost all of the people who post here, including myself.
You will be able to run custom spring rates, depending on what you want. Also, If you are planning to run low, you will want to get higher spring rates, and possibly extened top hats. At least in front. The higer spring rates will help prevent you from bottoming out the shock, and keeping the UCA from hitting you shock towers. The top hats also help to not bottom out the shock.

Worth reading all 28+ pages
Or give them a call. Talk to Jeff.
When it comes to customer service, I will gladly pay more money and buy from a company that has great customer service rahter than try to save a few bucks and buy from somewhere else.
Customer service is just as important as the product in my book.

That's exactly why I went with them. Their reps have spoken on the phone with me for 20-30mins out of the blue several times. talking about tires to alignment to their products.
i must add, progress has been there since the beginning. like back as in 1995. one of the first suspension companies that made stuff for honda's. back in those days, i remember everyone running there springs and sway bars.
