Need an answer about shocks FAST !!
Well My tokiko blues came in, and I was putting on the rears when I realized they were the wrong ones, no little bracket on the bottom. The fronts I put on, and while driving home they popped up through the mounts and into my hood
. I'm not sure if I missed something or the guy got the wrong fronts as well.
Well here is the question. The stock shocks have the little ring on the shock rod, that keeps them under the mount. Do aftermarket shocks have the same thing, or do they expect the little retainers to keep them in place? Sorry I don't have any pics, but I'm at work and have to get some answers so I can call the shop where I got them and get the right ones. Plus have that bastard reimburse me for the 80 bucks it cost to tow the car home.
Thanks in advance

Yes, you forgot the washers that sit right on top of the retainers on the shaft of the shock, just take it apart and you will see where it popped through.

Thats what I thought I did, but I wansn't 100% sure. I guess this proves you should take your time, even on the little things. It's bad when you can swap an engine with no problems, but can't figure out shocks
.
Thanks.
.Thanks.
The bracket on , the actual bottom of the strut where the bolt goes. They sent me rears that look like shocks. But I already talked to the guy, and the correct rears will be in tomorrow. Now I just have to remember where I put those washers
, and get a new hood.

it actually sounds like you tightened the two strut mount (the ones that bolt to the top of your strut tower) while the car was still jacked up.
you have to tighten those two nuts after the wieght of the car is on the struts. otherwise when you lower the car down with them already tightened down, they'll just poke through.
happened to me ALOT, so just something to think about when you reassemble them.
