i got a 89 honda civic hatch... when the car turns on, there is this winding noise coming out of the engine bay.. i cant figure out if it might be the alternator or some belts.. anyone got any suggestions to get rid of this noise? any help appreciated.. thanks

 

make sure the alternator belt isn't loose...!!!

 

nah it doesnt seem to be loose... how do i fix this noise??!!!
its at its worst while idling

 

Could be on too tight, or your alternator is going bad.....

 

it doesn't seem or you just haven't bothered to check...i had the same symptoms recently and adjusted my alternator and the squeeling went away...!!!

 

disconnect ur alternator, start it up, if the sound goes away it was ur alternator

 

hopefully its not ur water pump ive seen a few of em do it before might as well do timing belt too while ur in there

 

i checked all the belts and fluids just incase.. it all seems good.. i guess new alt it is
