I'm missing the gas door latch on my EF, can I see a pic of yours?
I need to see where the latch for the gas door mounts, and what it looks like, because mine is missing.
I *think* you can see this if you have the driver side rear interior panel removed...but I'm not totally sure on that one because I still have yet to remove mine. I'm assuming it's just a little latch connected to the gas door release cable, and mounts in the gas fill area...I can see the hole where it mounts when the gas door is open.
If anyone could get me pics of that latch, it would be greatly appreciated!

Well if its the same as the crx it should bolt up the hinges towards the drivers door and the latch popper comes through on the opposite side, if I can get a hold of a good camera I'll snap a couple pics for you.
My gas door is installed and works fine. Just missing the popper...but it may have just fallen out of the mounting hole and is down behind that interior panel. Will check tomorrow or Tuesday, since it's like 14f out there with high winds.
I'm in no hurry for those pics, so whenever you get around to it is fine. I won't actually be putting this beast back together until Tuesday when the new heater core shows up at the 'zone.
Ok here goes.
I'm including two pictures.
First one is the popper that controls the hatch and the fuel door. Basically two cables connect to it. One goes to the hatch and one goes to the fuel door. Looks alot like bike cable connections on the popper end but now not at the main end (hatch or door)

Sweet, thanks for the pics.
I have the two levers, and both cables appear to be there...the gas door just doesn't stay latched because the popper isn't mounted anymore. I'll assume that since the cable is there, the popper is too, it probably just got un-mounted somehow.
I'm guessing that the popper install from the back and is threaded, and a retaining nut installs from the exterior which is what holds the popper in place?

No thread dude.
You have to take the interior panel off.
then look for the popper.
Basically is twists locks into place. 90° turn. There is a little black cap that sits on the outside to cover the rest of the hole.
I have one for sale if you don't have it so that is how to get the gas door to pop open.
Also what you might want to check where the fuel goes in there is a little black nipple that is the popper.
That will tell ya if it has fallen behind or the cable is trashed.
If you can feel the cable being pulled and the little black nipple moving then the catch strap on the fuel door is not sitting correctly.

Went out there to remove that panel, and noticed that it has been removed before. Pulled it and noticed the popper hanging there not installed. I installed it, pulled the lever and everything worked. Shut the fuel door, pulled the lever...nothing. The catch strap at one point got bent out of shape and caused the fuel door to not open when the lever was pulled, which I assume led to the previous owner un-installing the popper rather than bending back the catch strap.
Anyways, I got it fixed. Fuel door now shuts/latches flush with the body, and pops right out when the lever is pulled.
Thanks for those pics and info, now on to the other 99,000 things wrong with this car.

There's two metal tabs with black coating on them near the hinge area of that door that act as the springs, you may need to bend those back out. Kind of a crappy design, honestly.
