Default old fuel high comp question

I'm bout to buy my friends integra which has been sitting a while. Like at least a year or so maybe longer. I have to ask him. The motor is built to 12:1 comp. I'm worried about the safety of the engine if I were to start it with the old gas in the tank. Educated feedback would be greatly apprreaciated. Thanks

just add new gas...the higher the octane the better...drive it on low load till its almost empty and the fill up with 93...

Was there any fuel stabilizer added to the fuel while it was sitting?

No stabilizer. I was hoping to avoid draining the tank because it will be a bit of a hassle. Thanks for the input so far. Anyone else?

If its older than a year, I'd definitely drain the tank. I've had it work at 8 months, but I only had about 1/8 of a tank and quickly filled it with fresh 92. I've tried using 1.5 year old 92 and it pinged like a ****.

Would anyone suggest using a bottle of octane booster in addition to adding fresh gas? Does anyone think my engine would be ok doing that?

Just top it off with fresh and take it easy until the tank is near empty and you will be fine.

How is it a hassle? Pull the fuel feed from the rail and supply the pump with 12v

Yall know there is a drain plug on the bottom of the tank right? I had gas that sat for 10 months, you better believe I drained it completely. I was like that orange/brown super old gas color. Gas also loses its octane rating over time. Ethanol doesnt help either, it makes gas go bad faster. If I were going to run old gas, atleast 100 octane would be mixed in.

I figured there was a drain bolt on the bottom of the tank because I remember there was one on my accord. Then I have to have containers to hold the old fuel and then what do I do with it?

I guess I will just play it safe and drain the tank. I don't want to risk damaging this motor. It has very low miles.
