so i have 91 civic si...stock d16a6

i recently change my dizzy because car was getting no spark..

these are symptoms im having:
-in any gear around 4k rpm it start jerking/kicking back..wont let me pass it
-in first gear it some time sputters..like jerks lil bit..not always tho

things ive replaced:
-fuel filter
-cap+ rotor
-wires +plugs
-oil + filter


any1 have this prob..i just want a good daily to drive smoothly and not jerk all krazy.

have you bothered to take a look for any ecu codes...!!!

 

jerking when first accelerating from a stop? check engine mounts

 

my brother had the same issue with his 91 hatch d15b1 4speed. turned out to be the clutch was worn was past the rivets and needed changed. he knows nothing about cars so he didnt know what a slipping clutch felt like

 

Sounds like the coil in your dizz. I assume thats a used one you put in?

Is your tach jumping around?

Any cel?

 

-i replaced with a used dizzy.. but i got the coil tested at autozone..fine!

-the speedo is a lil jumpy

-cel comes on sometimes but not everytime i drive

-clutch was replaced like 2 weeks ago

If you were OBD1 I'd tell you to replace your speed sensor and that would fix it, but if I recall yours is cable not electronic.

 

map sensor? maybe your o2 needs to be replaced?My buddy has a 90 si with the d16a6 and his had similar symtoms and we changed the map sesnor and o2 and it's all good now.Good luck man,Matt.

 

Autozone isn't very reliable. Are you using an oem dizzy?

Speedo jumps, not tach?

When it does throw a cel, what ecu codes are flashing?

 

- i checkd the code after driving home.. 13?

-at first the cel wouldnt come on all the time, but now is on from when i start the car

-yes im using oem dizzy

- and speedo jumps only not tach..

also...

-when im in nuetral and try to rev high, it chokes up and 4k and wont let me pass 4k

-so when im driving and hits 4k starts to jerk back.

 

compression test... trust me it will relieve stress...
eh... check vacuum lines..
if its obd 0 o2 sensor wont matter...
check all the screens on the sensors to see if its clogged up... since their is cel look up codes

 

Code 13 is BARO sensor (Atmospheric Pressure ) located in the P/S kick panel
