Default '94 Accord Integrated Control Unit(ICU) help

So ive been having some trouble with windshield wipers not turning off plus the power window dont want to roll down anymore. A friend looked at it and said that the ICU is bad. Looking at the inside of it i can see a spot that looks burned out. Now for my problem, my 94 accord is an early model 7/93. A mechanic told me that the ICU from a 94-98 wont work that it has to to be specific due to my production date. HOw true is this? I picked up an icu for $20 had the same part number as mine but the small number under the part number was different from mine. Stuck the new one in and nothing changed.
Do all the numbers have to match in order for it to work?
Here are the numbers on my particular icu
38600-sv4-a01-m1
114602
v4a0

Thanks for any help guys

Have you looked on-line? According to majestic, they do not list a production split. Still could be since it does call out TRW?

38600-SV1-A01 024 001 CONTROL UNIT, INTEGRATED (TRW)

Did you call your local dealer to confirm what your "mechanic" told you?

The integrated control unit was identical for all Accords in the '94 and '95 model years.

You may have a faulty wiper switch and power window master switch. I've replaced a lot more of those parts than I have with integrated control units . . .

Ive replaced quite a few, though they were all replaced for a parasitic draw....

Thats odd, i didnt call the dealer, but this mechanic has usually been right so i went with what he told me. Guess i should start digging alittle deeper.

OK, ill have to check those out. IF thats the case i can stop worrying about the ICU.

There are acouple of things wrong with the car, and maybe they are related some how.
-windows stop rolling up/down
-The whole gauge cluster stopped working
-If i put the car in park, afterwards i cant shift unless i shift lock release it. So ive just been putting it in N and using the hand brake

thanks alot for your help guys

I need some help here. Today I noticed my intermittent wipers and my rear defrost don't work. The light won't turn on for the defrost either. I haven't checked the chimes but my 4 ways are okay. Where is the ICU located? Planning to go to pull a part and grab one.

You guys need to diagnose the issue better Jordan. Check fuses, relays, etc before buying parts to fix something you're uncertain about.

IIRC ICU is under the driver side kick panel mounted to the fuse panel.
It is the largest item on the fuse panel with a 16 pin connector.

You're probably right. I did not do much troubleshooting. I recently sprayed my clutch peddle with WD-40. It had the most annoying squeak and it sounded good at the time. Needless to say I think I may have sprayed the kick panel. I went to a junk yard yesterday and grabbed a replacement ICU, tried that to no avail. I did notice that none of these fuses govern my problem (intermittent wipers, warning chimes, dome light).

Tell us what all is not working, your last post is the first "talk" of the dome lights?

IMHO, I have not read or seen of an ICU unit on a 5th gen go "bad" - 6th gens go bad all the time because of usually "owner/repair" issues - meaning someone did do a radio install properly and let a wire touch ground, ect.

Did you replace the #37 7.5 amp fuse in the under hood fuse box? It supplies poser to the ICU, dome lights, trunk light and courtesy ligts

IIRC there are a few fuses the are related to the ICU.
#1(bottom left) fuse in the under dash panel powers oil, and seat belt warning lamps, as well as power to the shifter interlock on AT cars.

"Mike" - Yes I agree but based upon the growing list of things "not working" and using the crappy on-line 5th gen manual (too lazy to get my service manual book off the shelf)....as far as I can trace the diagrams, they all seem to lead back to the under hood fuse that I posted.....example, look at the dome/ceiling light circuit

Same problem. Mine happened by two wires touching and grounding out the radio. I've replaced the ICU with 5 different units and nothing changed. Brake lights do not work when I hit the brake and I have to use the shift lock when I put it into drive. I've replaced the brake switch underneath the brake pedal with 5 switches as well. Also i do not have any radio in the car ATM if that matters. I am lost.

So you said these were your issues:
windshield wipers not turning off
power window dont want to roll down anymore
The whole gauge cluster stopped working
If i put the car in park, afterwards i cant shift unless i shift lock release it
my intermittent wipers and my rear defrost don't work

So a fuse fixed all the problems, wow. Studying the wiring diagrams would have probly lead you to the fix but would have been very difficult if you didn't know your issues were all relative.
