Help: Cold running power hesitation.
Hi everyone. I have a Jdm type r in my dc2.
When it's below -12 'C' My car idles fine and drives fine. But when I step on the gas "sometimes" it hesitates. Its the same on a cold start. And I do not let it warm up.
So before I was letting it warm up; but now it's so cold out that it always thinks it'd cold.
If has to be something with the air being so cold. Cuz over -10 it runs amazing.
Again; when I step on the gas it falls on it's face / hesitates and kicks power in spurts.
Also I have noticed my windows fog up a lot more.
I have researched a bit. And cannot find an answer.
Maybe thinking something to do with the themostat, or coolant sensors.
Maybe even throttle body sensors can't read the air cuz it's too cold.
Could use help on this.

The motor is a fresh Jdm. Swap has about 1000 kms since install. Coolant is practically new.
My heater core is pretty core is pretty hot when the cars running good.
My buddy thinks it's an O2 sensor telling the ecu it's cold and to add more fuel And it's over fueling.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you should try to drive around easy until car warms up before you "step" on it.
you guys getting crazy snow there too ??
when is the last time u changed cap and rotor for the dizzy
maybe spark plug wire? condensation in the wire plug?
and how is the motor tuned?

That's what I did. I let it warm up before I could drive it because it would sputter and spurt if I started driving while cold.
Also yeah we got a **** load of snow, 100 CMs in two days. But here's the thing. No matter if the cars warm, it does this because it's below -12 and it's as if the car was just started "cold".
The cold crisp negative air must be screwing with some sensor to do this.
It's a Jdm type r with stock ecu. With 1000'kms on since imported.
I think a sensor is telling the ecu it's in "choke mode" or just plain damn cold. And the ecu is compensating by sending more fuel. Its either the mass air sensor, throttle body sensor thing. ECT sensor ( engine coolant temp ). Or the O2'sensor.
If it's not this.
It must be the fuel pump can't work under -10 C* and it's not sending fuel or over sending.
And IF that doesn't work, than il do cap rotor and wired and plugs.
But I don't think it's that because why would the cold air effect them.

It's possible you might have a little condensation in your gas tank. Might throw a little Heet in it and see if it helps. I've had this happen to my winter cars before.
