Help on K20A crank and cam trigger wheels
Hi Guys
I intend to run a universal AEM ECU on a Honda K20A, which is equipped with the following trigger hardware:
1. Crank : 12+1
2. Exhaust (TDC) Cam : 4+1
3. Intake (VTC) Cam : 4
I did a scope of the Crank and Exhaust Cam trigger signal while it was idling. Please see attached image (Top = crank signal & Bottom = exhaust cam signal).

I have the following questions:
1. Does the "extra" exhaust cam tooth pulse (smallest pulse) indicates TDC?
2. Does each of the "normal" exhaust cam tooth pulse (the 4 bigger pulse) indicates the firing of the ignition coil and ijnector coils?
3. Can someone kindly explain to me the signals in relationship to a typical 4 cylinder engine cycle?
Appreciate all your replies and help!
Thanks!!!

Can I ask why you are running a universal AEM EMS?
Why dont you run the K20 EMS instead?
If you absolutely want to run the universal(not sure why) than you can actually use the settings from the K20 EMS and plug those numbers in.
Also jumpers may have to be changed in the universal depending on your sensor setup.

Hi,
I got the Universal AEM for free from one of my mates.
Yep, I could easily plug in the parameters from the PnP ECU, but wanted to understand the setup process and the reasons behind it.
Can you help me with my questions?
Thanks,
SW
