Help:should I rebuild or tear down 01-0438
[B][B]UPDATE, I decided to part her..
Hi everyone,
In my search for a USDM engine awhile back I came across a clean titled ITR 01-0438 in a junkyard. The car was for the most part complete but hit a train track sideways bending the structure of the car. I rented a truck, drove 4 hours and purchased just about every part that fit in the rental.
I couldn't just forget about the rest of the car, so I purchased it and had it towed out to me. I was really hoping to find a cheap total strip theft recovery that someone gave up on to move the parts over and get at least one back on the road. I missed out on a few shells, some people flaked and the rest were just too complete/expensive.
I'll be losing my storage for the car in the not so distant future so I am trying to plan out my attack. Here are my realistic options and I want everyone who reads this to chime in and give me their opinion. I'm too confused to figure this out by myself.
1.Keep everything I can as back ups (a bit over-kill but I am a hoarder)
2.Strip the entire car, sell it piece by piece and hope to have all the parts sold before I die of old age. All the big parts are already off, but there's tons of little parts left on it to pull.
3.Put the body panels back on, bolt on some 4 lugs and a seat in it and throw the car up on eBay ...and then still part out the interior, 5 lugs, engine/trans,etc..seperately.
4.suck it up, take out a loan to help pay for the bodywork and get 01-0438 back on the road.

i would rebuilt it but if you do decide to sell the parts pm me I need alot of stuff for example complete front(headlights,bumper/lip,fenders,hood,rad support) but good luck either way Id love to see anther one back on the road
I agree. If you don't have the money, nor the room for the project right now, sell it. You can always pick up another one in the future. I am in the same situation right now. The only difference is I have the funds, but no time, nor place to do it. Let some one who is ready for the project right now have her, but big pat on the back to you sir for rescuing her from the salvage yard. This is my opinion of course. Good luck on your decision.
I vote rebuild, don't write her off already. Honestly, It sounds like your just not in the position to rebuild one, I would sell to someone who could. I'm biased cause I'm slightly interested. PM your "rough" location.
This would match my other. I have a 98 the previous owner painted Black, no I just need a black one someone painted white!

My plans to rebuild originally included a garage to store it in during the process. I'm selling my house soon and full price storage rates aren't worth paying.
I think I'm going to post it up for parts, then someone else more qualified in frame straightening/bodywork can take over.

I would love to see this car rebuilt, but with the worst of what's to come as far as the economy is concerned, as well as assuming those two girls in the pic are yours, I say get rid of it/part out.
Just noticed your parts online, Did you not get any offers to sell it whole? If you where not in NJ and me in TN I would have made a legitimate offer. I figure shipping is going to cost 1000 so its pointless.
Its a clean title ITR. I say just post it up for sale before you part it. Plenty of people out there looking for a shell. I would buy this if I had the cash right now.
If you don't sell it as a whole, I noticed someone mentioned saving the badge for the next owner. That is a good idea, I don't mean to tell you what to do but just sell the armrest not the badge.
