Default Looking at a cheap EP3

First want to say hi to everyone on the board and I hope you can help me out. So...my co-worker is selling his EP3 ('03 I believe).
The Bad:
-it has 190k miles
-cracked windshield
-dent in the rear bumper
-left tail lamp is damaged
-the rear shocks are apparently shot
-heavily smoked in it
The Good:
He is only wants 2500

My only concern is the mileage. He is 40 years old and used it as his commuter car, so the miles are pure highway. How durable is the K20A3? I have only heard good things about them, but almost 200k is a bit off putting. Is there anything else I should look for? Thanks for the help,

John O.

the heavily smoked in would be a **** no for me...

High miles doesn't mean anything since its a Honda (as long as taken care of) but sounds like this guy just abused his poor car

Ya, it didnt sound like he took good care of it. Would it make a good K20A2 swap at that price? I haven't seen too many EP3 rollers for sale so I dont have any idea how to price it. The body isn't bad other than the rear bumper and I could always strip the interior to get rid of the smoke smell.

for the price i dont think you could go wrong for a running ep3. like you said it would be a good candidate for a A2 swap. i mean it sounds like t could use a bit of work, but you could end up with a nice ep3 for like $4000.

I'd pass since it sounds like its been beat to hell. But if you're willing to go to all the trouble of fixing it up and restoring it then I'd say do it. Just try to get him to knock the price down a little more.

Just got back from test driving it and its actually in pretty good shape, aside from what i mentioned before. He put new brakes on it earlier this year, tires are fine, the engine sounds great and runs strong, it has oil change records, and the rear suspension seemed fine to me. Interior did smell like cigarette smoke, blah.
When I talked to him he made it sound much worse than it actually is, so I may just take the gamble and go for it. If I end up buying it I will post some pics. If I pass and anyone is interested in it just let me know and will forward you his contact info.

you can't go wrong

after fixing it up and whatnot itll prolly cost around 4k which is a steal even at that price

but considering its running right now
you could drive it as honda motors will last a lifetime practically if taken care of.

The only pics I have of the car are on my cell phone, I'll try to post them when I get home. The is located about 40 miles west of Chicago. Right now it looks like I am going to buy it, I just need to get rid of one of my other two cars...or find room. But if it falls through I will let you all know.
