I've been told by people that they are halogens, but I've also been told they're HID and that they're not, so i would like to know the actual answer. Thanks

My niece has a 2010 EX V6 coupe, and they are hid. Maybe the lower line models have something else, don't know.

All the Accord Coupes have HALOGEN bulbs in projector housings. None have HIDs. The S2000 and CRZ are the only Hondas to have HIDs for headlights. *edit* And to clarify, they have halogen bulbs from Honda, the dealership could have installed HIDs but they are aftermarket and the housing is not designed for it.

correct, no honda accords come stock with HID's (and most likely never will)

 

What about all the other midsize sedans (Camry etc.)? Are they all doing the same thing? Seems underhanded to me. How is the light output on these fake projectors?

 

Well they're not fake projectors persay, they still do a good job in terms of light output, but the beam focus is not meant for HIDs, just the halogens.

And from what I've seen Honda is lacking on the whole HID market, I think they are doing it to make more of a barrier between Honda and Acura. All Acuras to my knowledge come with HIDs stock.

 

The new odyssey has Real self leveling HID's. Just to throw that in there. Sorry Honda Salesman. couldent resist. lol

wouldnt damage the car, but wouldnt perform like a HID in a HID projector. The halogen projectors arent meant to accept an HID light. although itll do a better job than a HID in a reflector housing, it still isnt using the HID to its full potential.

 

+1 i dont see honda offering an OEM HID kit unless its part of an upgrade package costing $1500+ in the future. I believe all Acuras come with stock HIDs now, (believe as of like 2004-05 MDX still had halogen lights), i just dont get why honda doesnt put them in their cars as the difference between HIDs and halogens is literally night and day.

those only come on the top of the line "elite" model.
