Hi everyone, I received a VAFCII from a friend (I was considering a SAFCII myself) and decided to take the charity and save some money.. Plus I prefer the black VAFCII over the predominantly silver SAFCII's
Yes I know its a piggyback, and NO I couldnt do an ECU swap as the car is automatic (my sister drives it as well)
Anyway, this is the wiring guide from APEXi
http://www.apexi-usa.com/content/pdf6133.pdf
In my case where I am using this for a non-vtec car and ecu, what would I do differently?
Obviously, I wont plug the purple and pink VTEC solenoid wires, but would I have to do anything else differently?
Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it

Please help? I need to get this figured out by the end of the week latest..
Shockingly APEX'i has no US customer service or support so there is no one to call for this issue..

Or if you just want to be able to see the other data the unit can pull up (sensor voltages for example).
I would agree that it's main function is to mess with VTEC engagement. But considering that is pretty overrated and not typically worth a damn, you might as well find another function for it.
I looked over that manual nicolaselias and I can't see why you wouldn't just leave the VTEC wires unhooked and be done with it.
I know they work with non-VTEC ECU's (they can engage VTEC for them if you have a VTEC swap) but I couldn't find anyone who had installed them like you are trying to.
Good luck with this. Let us know if you figure anything out.

Well basically what im trying to do is use the VAFC as a SAFC... IE. Im trying to piggyback and alter MAF sensor readings to trick the ecu into increasing or reducing fuel injection, ie. leaning or riching
The VAFC is basically an SAFC but with the additional function of VTEC engagement control (which I obviously cant use)..
Problem is, I have never installed either before, so I don't know if there are any other wires I would need to leave uncut..

I have mine hooked up without the vtec wires. Its works fine. You need to use the tachometer wires from the engine. I tried to use the tach signal wire from the TCU. I have an automatic

Thanks for this help, can you please elaborate a bit on the tach wire issue?
Where are the tach wires from the engine and why cant they be used from the TCU?
Have you tuned with the VAFC? How did it go for you?
I appreciate the help because you have an almost identical setup to me.. VAFCII on a non-vtec automatic.

If you use the tach wire from the tcu it has a bad signal. While you are driving it bounces 200 to 300 rpm. Just use the blue wire from the distributor. I have not tuned my car with it yet. I,m waiting until I swap in a 5 speed. I have played with it a little bit and it makes the car more responsive where I bumped the high throttle.
