Default 1991 Hatch new things to come

So i bought my hatch about a year ago now and haven't did much to it because of the fact money was not on my side. So i just had a good daily driver but money is now on my side and im getting into it again. Here she is as I bought her.

The wheels are 17 inches and most go. I finally found a someone that had 15's to trade.

Wow... Do I have a story about this. I drove to New York from Kentucky in my 1991 Honda Civic Hatch to visit family up there. No problems the whole way up there. I went to visit the city for the first and only time with my uncle and my battery light came on. I never had any problems in the city but as soon as I got back into upstate New York my car wouldn't start. I checked the battery voltage and it was at like 8 volts. Took the battery to the only auto parts store in the town and they confirmed the battery was bad. I bought a $90 65 month battery and installed it. The light did not go out. I proceeded you check the alternator and found the the voltage was the same as the battery. The nearest alternator was an hour and a half away and $100. So I made the trip and replaced the alternator, which really wasn't as hard as i thought it would be with two people. Then, a week before college started I was at the gas station and after filling up my car wouldn't start. Obvious Main Relay, A new one was going to take a day to come in. After I get the main relay for $65 installed starts like a charm and doesn't throw any more ECU codes. I was coming back from my cousins house going to my grandparents house and this Jimmy wants to race. So we do like a 35 MPH pull and i didn't stop after beating them. The biggest raccoon runs out in front of my car and i clip it with my right front side. It heated up but didn't overheat i looked at it in the morning and had i cracked radiator. No junkyards and no Honda's in this town! I went to the Auto Parts place in town and ordered a $90 radiator that would be there the next morning. Installed the radiator after pulling the front bracket out some and left for home the next morning thinking there was nothing else that could go wrong. 300 miles into the trip my car backfires and spits and sputters and jerks going down the interstate at 75 or 80 MPH. I pull over and tried to start it and it made a noise like i have never heard. I thought i had jumped time. So i got it towed for $50 to the nearest town and spent the night at a hotel for $80. I didn't even wanna look at my car. So my dad drove 700 miles with a trailer to trailer my car home because I moved into college on Saturday. We got back home Friday night and I packed everything up in my moms car. I left for college Saturday without my car. Then about two weekends later i had time to go back home and work on my car. That's when I found out that it was only the set screw in the rotor blade that fell out. I had an extra dizzy laying around and just used that set screw. It started right up! That is my crazy road trip to NY from KY and back or at least half way back. I'll fly from now on! LOL
so this is what happen to me over the summer and I've been through hell and back with this car but things are getting better. Now to something recent, yesterday I picked up motor d16a6 its out of a 91 CRX Si. The CRX shredded a timing belt and dropped all the valves. I got the motor, tranny, intake, ECU, FULL wiring harness, aftermarket header. The header i installed yesterday and i have a bad exhaust leak, but this will be fixed soon.

Size down for the win... now you need to paint that trim (fender/etc). You will really notice the difference, and it's easy. Those blue clips are pricey though, if you get them off without breaking them, good for you.

I would love to get new lower blinker lights and front and rear mudflaps and legit ef side skirts. It has ebay coilovers on it right now but i like the ride height because of my driveway and well i am looking for a cheap but good suspension. thank any more ideas are welcome.

in order to take the side moldings off it takes time and patience... also you have to take the bolt of the end of the molding on the other side of the door..i take a flat head and pry it up some then slide it off going along the car as not to bend it... if done rite the clips should stay on the car and you have a clean bent free molding....lol

When you open the door you'll see a little 10mm acorn type nut right beside the door panel. That's the one you want to take off.

Ok so holiday season was crazy. I spent all holiday in NY taking care of my grandparents that were sick. So not much done lately but today I fixed my exaust leek, Put my new engine stand together and got my d16a6 that i got basically for free on it, Unpacked the new 1986 CRX alloy rims with NO curb rash at all, and i started on a valve cover stripping bright ugly yellow off. Pics will soon follow. tomorrow morning!

Ok so I took the head off my d16a6 i got the jumped time and bent valves. I have questions.

1. My friend and I got the head bolts mixed up so we can put them back in the same holes they come out of. Any problems with this?
2. I want a good solid motor but don't want to build the bottom end and normal maintenance on the bottom end I need to do?
3. Will I be ok buying a vtec(I know I have to be OBD1) or another a6 head for that matter and just bolting it on or do I need to upgrade certain parts in the head like a valve job or new springs and retainers or rocker arm assy.?
4. I'm not going to be racing it a lot at all and it is my DD but I want to get this motor going on a budget I'm not looking for performance, or I would have bought a b series. I basically got the motor for free and its my first build and I am trying to Keep It Simple.
5. Oh it blew a head gasket. I'm going to be using a y8 metal head gasket. What will need to be done to the new head and/or block like resurfacing or honing or anything you can think of?

You don't have to have the answer to all these but don't put "just buy a b-series"

If you think of any more information that is pertinent to my build to help me it would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I go home this weekend so I can get pics it the daylight for yall.

buy new head bolts, its not recommended to reuse head bolts bc they are torqued to yeild, which means they are permenantly stretched longer than they are supposed to be.

I have an A6 head for sale if you want it, Let me know

You dont need to hone the block unless you are replacing piston rings. Decking the head and block is always recommended. It is prob in your best interest since you have the motor apart to just rebuild it now instead of pulling it back out later when you find new problems

could be a head gasket or a cracked block. have a machine shop take a look if you cant find an obvious crack

No it was a blown head gasket and it shreded the timing belt. I just need to know how the get the mixture out. Its not a lot if fluid but it is a white foamy substance against the walls
