CF hood: slam or press?

Bought a new cf hood and don't want to crack/bend any of it.

What's the best way to close a hood, press on it or slam it?

I always press on mines slowly never slammed

They generally don't have enough weight to slam, so the best bet is to press right on top of the latch to close them.
