Hi guys,
One of my friends asked me to make his intercooler piping for his r32 coupe. He's dropped an RB26DETT out of a gtr into it and i had previously modified the sump to be RWD.
He wanted pie cut / lobster cut intercooler piping not mandel bends. The car looks pretty tough with wide body rear and R34 front end. It came out well, pipes pulled a little from being welded even though I switched between them and turned them over.
Fitup is good, pipes are square in the silicone joiners and have a bead around the end to stop them blowing off under boost.
Was welded with my Miller Dynasty 200dx w/ ck200 watercooled torch, 2% lanthanated 2.4mm tungsten. I use 1.6mm 4043 filler wire. Piping is 3" (76.5mm x 2mm wall)
All piping was cut with my Metabo KGS-305 crosscut compound mitre saw.
I dont think it came out too bad considering I havent done pie cuts/lobster cuts before.. I'm happy with the outcome.
Comments, criticisms?
Anyway, Onto the pics.

I'm not a fan of pie cuts either, but if he paid me to pick my nose I would

With the wide body rear of the car, the massive 11.5" wide rims in the fromt and 12" in the back it gives the car a "tough" stance.. the piping kind of fits in with it all..
I didnt like it when it was all tacked up.. after welding it I was getting more and more mellow on it..

i think it looks great, a nice polish would help things out a bit, and ignore the ignorant finger pointers that cant even weld in the first place.
