ok so my question is does the trunk latching thinggy (tech term) have the spring in it that POP's the trunk?
PROBLEM: trunk doesnt pop when pulling lever. aka two person job or screwdriver help.

The door struts are probably bad.. they are the shock absorber looking things in the back. There are also rubber "bumpers" that look like gum drops that you can screw in and screw out to adjust the pressure to pop the rear door. Between those bumpers and the door struts, that should provide 1 man popping action. The door struts lasted about 10 years, so most cars don't have working ones anymore, which is the common cause of the problem.
It's probably the rubber bumpers that need some adjustment. They probably got squished down over the years. Just twist them to adjust them up or down.
I had two totally dead lift struts on my CRX and I could still open the hatch by myself. When I replaced the lift struts, there was no spring at all left in them. The pistons could be put part way down and they would stay there.
