Hey guys have a quick question hopefully one of y'all can answer before I start tearing the door apart. Within the past week I've experienced an electric shock when getting out of the Driver's side door about 40% of the time. Car is a 1999 Ex in California. Some possible relevant information: Car has some poor aftermarket front speakers and tweeters that don't even work. One of the rear speaker cones (driver's side) seems to have popped a month ago but I don't know if that could be causing the shock in the drivers door. Door panel has been taken off once to remove window tint and when replaced there were no shocks until about a month later.
Doesn't bother me too much but I was wondering if this is a common problem and where I should start looking? Y'all think it's speaker related? Bad ground somewhere? I'm a little afraid it'll be a bigger problem if I just ignore it so I'd rather fix it now and not worry about it anymore. Thanks for reading
Even if the speaker wires are pulled off and touching the door frame, that's not going to shock you. Sounds like power wire for the power windows is pinched. Take the door panel off to inspect.
Sounds like normal ole static shock, has it been very dry in your area lately? Depending on what type of clothing you wear to what type of fabric on the seats can cause this. If you had anything touching metal it would blow the fuse or already burnt your wiring or car. I don’t see this as a problem with the car it self
I'm working on a car now that was known to be doing the same thing before we gutted it. I don't think it was static shock. I'm curious to see if it's still occurring after the car is re-assembled, if it is then I'm going to have to hunt for frayed power wires or a bad ground.

Thanks NV that definitely could be the culprit. I had a difficult time putting the panel back on due to the tweeters and pinching wires sounds very probable. Will update once I get it disassembled
X2 on the door wiring. I'd like to add these pictures from 2016. The wife's 96 Civic sedan had several wires worn through, and all of the power windows would randomly work. Honestly just clipped the connectors and soldered something like 28 wires together. ALL of the awkward longer wires are the ones that wore themselves through over the years. I even had to do the front passenger side too.
This happens to me in dry weather, but I don't have power windows, so it's possible you have some frayed wires.
Even if you don't have power windows, the wires are there at the door jamb (car side). They have a bad tendency of breaking at/near the connector. Had to fix this issue before on my old Civic EG sedan.
