Default car wont start

ok so i have a b16a2 but im running a obd1 harness and a p28 ecu. i go to turn over the car but nothing happens...no noise..nothing. i do have power so i dont think its the battery. not sure if the starter would make noise or just die like that but the only other thing i can think of is that my ecu is done. also the check engine light comes on when i try to turn it over but if i pop start my car it goes away...thanks for the help in advance

Any clicking noises when you try to start the car? is your fuel pump priming in (onII) key position?

You said you were able to pop start the car...

which means your battery is probably dead.

Edits:

*If your battery is dead, you won't hear anything when you try to start the car.
*If your starter is done but NOT the battery, you will be able to hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key to On II position, your radio would work, lights, etc. And you would hear clicking noises from the engine bay when you try to start it.

If you're not hearing anything, try replacing the battery first to see if your starter is dead. Then replace it if necessary. Or just get a voltmeter and see if your battery is dead.

Have you checked the rubber stopper that presses on the safety switch at the top of the clutch pedal?

sorry guys still kinda new at this.

ok so the fuel pump doesnt prime and i tried to jump start it with cables and no luck. it pop started for me last night but today doesnt want to do anything. im going to check the rubber stopper right now to see if that might have something to do with it.

also when i go to piggyback it with a paper clip its not reading anything or throwing any codes...the check engine light just stays on.

thanks again for the help

So the fuel pump doesn't prime and the starter doesn't crank the engine, right?

Did you check the rubber stopper?

Is hood fuse 44 or dash fuse 13 blown?

Have you checked the main relay?

Is the ground on the thermostat housing clean and tight?

Finally, test the ignition switch.

Maybe your ecu fuse? Mine's actually went out and I wasted time and money getting it towed from the freeway with a flatbed to find out it was just a 15 amp fuse that went out. Luckily I had towing coverage with my insurance and only had to pay like $60. Weird that the ecu fuse would even go out like that and I have no idea why either.
