I rented a compression tester from autozone and tested the #1 cylinder, and now it wont come out.
This is the type I used:


The part that screws into the cylinder is staying stationary while the rubber hose is rotating. I have tried pulling the hose while I turn and pushing on the hose while I turn. I really need to get this out.

 

That sucks, you know how I know? I did that myself back in 04. Solutions:

1 - Drill an extractor into the part stuck in the spark plug threads, pull out.

2 - Remove head, twist it out by hand, tell yourself you will never do it again.

Your choice.

 

are you 100% positive it's really stuck? It takes quite a few turns for it to loosen up. When I did it (with that exact tester) it was a bitch to untwist out each time cause it took so many turns.

 

Are you serious? I've gotten those compression testers stuck multiple times on different cars. Never had to do any of that.

You just need to find some pliers that will fit in the spark plug hole so you can get lock and twist it out. I always try to very lightly lubricate the threads before doing anything like that now.

 

maybe put some thread locker on the end that screws in the adapter, let it dry, then unscrew the whole thing.

 

I got mine out with needle nose pliers, like 94preludeguy says. It was not torqued in there, just the adapter got snagged on the rubber o-ring, so the top part came out and left the adapter in.

In the future, lube the o-ring with oil.

 

i didnt torque it in there or anything, just turned it snug. Guess i'm on the look out for some crazy long needle nose pliers.

 

You can probably use pliers meant for removing spark plug wires to unscrew it.

I've had the same thing happen. Needlenose are what I used.

 

When this happened to me I was able to use a long flathead to wedge in there and turn it. I found it helped if I cranked it over a bit and left the pressure in the tester hose that way it didnt twist as much.

 

got into that situation as well long before. i was like

what i did, i dropped in two long flat tipped screw drivers, form it in "X" then twist to loosen

i still use the same tester i had and i make sure it's tight every time, before dropping her again into each plug hole.
