Well, while changing out spark plugs in the d16a6 today, i realized just why i got the car for $1300...broke off a spark plug because it was seized in the head. Oh well, life goes on.
So, i just did a swap in a 00 Civic Ex, installed a b16a2 for a friend, and as payment for doing it for him, he gave me his stock motor with tranny and everything. I was planning on swapping it in, but then i thought mabye i wouldnt and just sell it or something, but now with my recent dilemma, and the crx taking away the garage from my GTI, i need to slap it in. So, now the real question - what do i need to drop this engine in. Its from a 00 Civic Ex, d16y8 i think. Im assuming im going to need the d16a6 tranny (cable vs hyrdo), d16a6 mounts, and d16a6 ecu with a one wire conversion or vafc/fields/etc. Things im not sure on are the axles, distributor, and various other things. If anyone has done this swap before, please chime in and give me some tips.
Thanks guys!

the tranny, axles, and distributor in your 90 crx si can be used for the d16y8. the motor is a straight bolt-in. the only thing that you should really be concerned about is how you'll go about activating the vtec. some suggest getting your chip reprogrammed by zdyne or such companies, or using the b16a ecu, or going the cheapest route by just rigging it up to a switch to activate vtec with some type of msd switch. i'm trying not to be specific, because i haven't done this swap yet. hopefully soon in my crx though, but i'll be going with the d16z6.
Don't listen to him. He's suggesting the ghetto route. Convert to OBD-I, use the Y8 dizzy, distributors, P28 ECU.
Email me for a complete guide to do this swap...

So in converting to OBD1, is that alot of rewiring? I have the OBD 2 Ecu, obvoiusly this is going to be useless to me...correct? What are the drawbacks in using the d16a6 ecu with a vafc and dyno tuning?
Thanks alot, this is a great help!

btw, i thought the y8 was obd-2? obd-1 is the d16z6, correct? i could be wrong, because i'm also trying to gather information for a swap in the near future.
and how much you selling your y8 for?

i think the wiring on that one would suck.but you would have to use all the motor stuff from the 2k like dizzy. the axles doesnt matter either one will work.
