is the A/C compressor or the water pump on the front right side of a d16a6? my car broke a belt just need to know which one it is.

 

The AC compressor is on the front *driver* side of the engine. Water pump is driven by the timing belt - your car would not run if this belt broke.

 

They're both on the same side, but the waterpump is driven by the timing belt and is under the timing belt cover. The alternator has it's own belt, as does the AC. The AC compressor is in the front near the radiator, so That should be the one you want.

It's pretty straight forward. I'm guessing your difficulty stems from the fact you may be missing the tensioner pulley. It happened to someone else also, it should look like this:
