Default plastic wheel well question

I know probably many people take theirs out when they go lower, I dont that like that idea, but my car rubs horrible being low because of the wheel well rubbing the tires, its actually starting to chew the middle of the tire up when i turn, So heres the question is it really that bad for anything if you take them out? Once their out, everythink is pretty vulnerable to the outside, so whats the deal? anyone on here answer this silly question?

are you sure its the fender liner rubbing the wheel? there's a seam in the body behind that liner that usually gets in the way, you have to hammer that down.
