yup, 10 years ago this month, all my automotive dreams came true when Honda thankfully brought the DC chassis back for a final year run and i drove my 2001 Phoenix Yellow Acura Integra Type R #510 off the dealership lot in November 2000. from january 2000, i had many many MANY months of waiting and gut-wrenching anxiety, not knowing and wondering if Honda was going to bring back the DC2 chassis for another year run. i painfully missed the last 2000 ITR and there were already rumors at the time for a new model/chassis replacement.
even my Acura dealer didnt know for sure if the DC2 was coming back for another year after the last 2000s were sold, let alone another ITR version. i faithfully with no promise from the dealer, left a blank check deposit with my name on it for the FIRST yellow R in hawaii...IF it were to come back at all. that was the longest 10 months of unrest, praying and Hoping that id get my opportunity.
well, the weekend before Thanksgiving 2000, i finally get THE call from my salesman, telling me my car was fresh off the boat getting her PDI done. i couldnt believe it, my joy at the time couldnt be put into words, and 10 years later Betty still does it for me.
ive gone thru some of the best parts on and off the car in the past decade of ownership...Recaro, Mugen, Spoon, Oem Japan only ITR parts etc. after selling off most of my collection, i still gladly hold onto a mint set of black jdm Recaros and a set of OEM itr 16s that need new rubber. i never took shortcuts and never once washed the car without a giving her a final wax. i decided recently that i am going back to a more stock ITR as im getting older and appreciate the car now in a different light...sort of similar to an enthusiast of a more mature mind. i do admit that i forgot how high the stance is with the oem suspension, but i like it more and more with some getting used to. yes i know, i need to change the ORIGINAL Bridgstone RE 010 tires...just goes to show how much seat time ive actually had with the car.
anyway, i thought a late afternoon drive and some pics this past Thanksgiving weekend would be a nice way to give Betty a breather after sitting in the garage for 3 months now. hope you guys enjoy our 10 year anniversary...

Looking great man! I was thinking just the other day I will have owned my R 10 years this Dec 8th. Hard to believe it's going into a second decade.
I always had and always will have much respect for Lucky and his R...Congrats on 10 years of owning such a beautiful car, stock or not stock. Its still a wonderful sight.
Congrats on your 10 year anniversary. Like you, I know what the feeling is like Perfect example of a true Honda-man
You know, if I ever end up on Oahu during my career, I am definitely going to ship my R over (maybe Rs if I pick up another when I have the money) and we're going to cruise.
