ls turbo or gsr turbo
I currently have a 94 ls. I wanna put a turbo in it. My question is, would i be better of buying a gsr and turboing it or just turbo the ls? Im not looking for a a daily 12 second. I just want something quick (i wanna keep up with s2000, some mustang). I got the money to turbo the ls or get a gsr. If i get the gsr, i will turbo it in a couple of month (just enough time to save up? Which would i be better of doing?
there are two sides to this question.
Turbo ls = less power, with less cost of a new motor
Turbo GSR = slightly more power, with a expensive motor (higher revs)
That is if you are going to be hitting 12's with boost around 10+ psi DAILY
If you want to boost 10+ psi on a totally stock motor, i would go with a LS. then if you damage the motor you can find one for cheap.
With a GSr motor if you damage it you will be looking at taking out a loan to cover the cost of a low mileage b18c
I have a Gsr turbo with a GReddy turbo kit, which i keep under 8psi. which is about the most i would reccomend with a stock motor.
good luck

how many miles are on your LS motor ? if the miles are not to high then stick w/ the LS . get sum cams , bigger injectors and you should do jus fine w/ the LS turbo .
it has 140k on it. The motor runs strong. doesn't burn any oil. im not lookling for a street beast, just something a little quick.

Mmmm. boost + 140k = dead at 145k.
No seriously...your engine may run strong now, but if you decide to boost I think you should plan on a rebuild. The ol' beast won't like being force-fed.

Rebuild the motor then boost that ho. Dont listen to people that say "oh VTEC and turbo doesn't mix blah blah". If you put a turboed GSR against a turboed LS with equal drivers and same setup(motors are both in same conditioned) I guarantee you the GSR will walk over it.
If you have money to spend why not get an R motor, or better yet an H22 and boost it. If not, stick with your current B18B motor and boost that and you will be happy.
Your motor has a lot of miles so I would reccommend rebuilding it.
