So i bought this 89 dx sedan and heres my question:

Whenever I go to push in the brakes the pedal is really firm and its difficult to keep it pushed in. When I'm at a complete stop and slightly ease up on the pedal it makes a creaking noise.

Any words of advice to put me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

brake booster?

 

Might be the rear motor mount, but wait for other input. GL BRO.

 

Vacuum leak or bad check valve?

 

Ill check those out even though i dont know how i would check t see if a brake booster is good. Bump for any more ideas?

did it start out of no where? or were u working on ur brakes then it started the problem

 

came out of no where. Im gonna bleed the brakes then go from there

 

Failed brake booster equals no brake assist (firm pedal) Failed master cylinder equals soft pedal and usually goes down to the floor. Hope this helps

where is the check valve at?

 

by the firewall, comes fromt he bb goes thru the check valve then to the IM
