Default Thinking of buying a 2008 Accord

As title says, looking at a four cylinder sedan. Does anyone own this and have any issues with them or anything? I would like to hear what people has to say before I lean any further in buying this car .

Thanks!

I bought a 2008 with zero miles.

Its got 37k miles right now and we have been through 2 sets of rear brakes, its noisy inside and now were having a issue with oil consumption.

I wouldnt touch it with a 10ft pole.

Just my thought.

They do have short lived rear brakes . That is known for all 08-09 with stock pads (Honda has made numerous revisions ).

On a whole asking if any problems really won't work to good in forums cause all forums are there to help people with "problems" for most part. So its biased on bad side and this is for anything type of forum in general .
Pick your fav auto and check big sites you find "issues" with everyone for most part no matter cost of vehicle , just the way it is .

Before you reject any '08-'10 Accord, I recommend a little more research. As others have noted, the '08s and early '09s had well-documented rear brake-pad problems. The problem was the composition of the pads; not the brakes themselves. But, depending on how the car was driven (which is an issue with any automobile, of course), the rear pads typically required replacement between 25k-28k miles. (Of course, if the car's owner ignored the sound of the wear indicator on the rear disks, the disks were ruined in short order, which turned a relatlively simple task into an expensive one [$250 or so].) After two false starts, early this year Honda began producing a set of replacement pads (consisting of pads and a set of return springs) that seem to have corrected the wear problem. At its very worst, however, a set of replacement pads is only about $45 online, and swapping pads isn't much more difficult than putting bread in a toaster; a one-hour task even for a neophyte. Additionally, Honda has been rebating $150 for rear-pad replacements on '08 and '09 Accords. In short, I wouldn't reject an otherwise good car for this reason.

If, however, you are still concerned about this particular issue, further information can be found in a long series of posts going back several years at driveaccord.net.

WRT the oil consumption issue mentioned above, that IMHO is an anomaly. The k-series engine in the Accord has been in production for more than a decade, and as engines go, there's considerable evidence that it is exceptionally durable engine that it is very easy on motor oil. If you have further concerns WRT this, you may wish to visit bobistheoilguy.com and search the subject.

Finally, if you buy a Honda certified car, these sorts of issues are covered for up to 100k miles. Just a thought.

"Mechanic" is correct...the rear brake issue has been solved with Honda's 3rd try at reformulating the pads. Regarding buying these online...careful, it's real easy to get the "older" rear brake pads, then you're replacing these again in 8-12k miles. The part number must end in "A40" to be the current product. Buy a certified used car, if they're truly "Certified" the rear brakes will be a non-issue.
And yes, as said before, Forums are usually biased towards those with negative issues.

you won't regret.

Honda Accord has the best value.....later you can still re-re-sell it at a higher price!

Just bought a 08 lx-p with 37K miles. Looks great, drives great and brake pads look good. Maybe they were replaced already but I like it. I have had dozens of Honda's over the years and this one seems like the rest.

I just bought an '08 last month.. great car so far! My '07 Scion tC that it replaced had an oil consumption problem, I had to put a quart every 4-5 weeks (crazy yeah, no kidding) dealer didnt want to do anything.. I bought it with zero miles and only put 22k miles on it until I got sick of the oil problem and sold it. Point being any car can have an oil problem.. must have been built on a friday huh?
