Default Crankcase Vent question

Car is a civic with a boosted gsr swap, my buddy was complaining of smoke/fumes inside the car while driving. I notice the smokey fumes coming from a breather/filter on the valve cover. I inspected the PCV and it opens with neg psi against it but you can also slightly blow through it the other way.

Im gonna go ahead and replace the PCV but i think there may be a problem with the canister the PCV plugs into.

If you guys suggest the canister is plugged can it be bypassed.

Add more breather options to your motor.
