Default running too rich? RC 310 injectors?

OK, I just Made some runs at Mission Raceway. Best of which I pulled a 14.2@98MPH. 8 psi. reaction time .8 and 60 ft time 2.6

People tellme I should be runing Mid 13s, which I believe too.
A friend with a SIR (same turbo 6psi) no IC, ran 13.8 with 17" mags! WTF??

my setup:
93 Civic Si Coupe
JDM B18C
Greddy 18G turbo w/intercooler
Walboro 255GPH pump
Vortech 12:1 FMU
RC 310 Injectors
check valves for map sensor

As is the car has a lopey idle. it will idel with vaccuum at -18psi then creep up tp -10psi then drop back to -18psi. when this happens slight amouts of black smoke comes out the exhaust.

top end power is less than impressive doesn't seem to pull at high end in 4th gear.

Any Ideas?

You maybe running too rich. Try going 8:1 with your set up. I am using 8:1 with RC 310cc. Base fuel pressure is at 33psi. Hope this help.

how'd you lower the pressure to 33 psi? would goin back to stock injectors be better?

Well most people will probably say you need to get your 60 ft times down.... 2.6
Practice Practice Practice.. Is this the first time running at the track with turbo ?

Alos you say your friend got a 13.8 with 17s, do you know what his 60 ft times were???

As for running rich, better to run rich then lean.... do you have an SAFC or a fuel controller ? because you may need to lean it out a little at idle... I know I had some 280 injectors and at idle the car would run like crap and want to stall...
Just my 2 cents on the topic...
Take care...

I used a B&M adj. fuel pressure regulator to lower my static fuel pressure from 36psi. Seems to work well with my b18b and RC310cc.

modvp what times or HP you running??

to the thread starter... that fmu kills top ends with too much fuel pressure just like mine, go with electronic fuel management, file2fit sells circuit boards for $20 shipped or Zip has a step up from that for $99.95 or get hondata if you can afford it. but trust me fmu's suck compared to BDFPR's, the best way to crank serious power from your setup is with electronic fuel management, I speak from experience i"ve had them both with same psi level and there was a night and day difference.

My car is pushing 211 whp at 9 psi on a mustang load dyno running rich (11:1).

well... one things for sure... youre running way too rich and its costing you power. im runnin on a 12:1 fmu and stock injectors and im runnin too rich after 5k+ rpms. yes, this is dyno proven. if i could only get the damn thing scanned then i could post it up. so... in this case... youre definitely losing power at high end. with 310s and a 12:1 fmu, youre runnin even more rich.. and thats already the problem there. your launches and traction could also be the problem why youre runnin 14.2s. i run low 14s at 7psi when i should be doin high 13s easy, but my traction sucks.. probably because i have crappy tires. besides practicin your launches... work on your fuel setup. either put your stock injectors back on... or change the fmu rate to 8:1.

okay yah, it was my first time at the track with this setup. but it seems like the race season is over for this year so phooey

thanks for all the input folks.

I will go back to the stock injectors and try that. as for tires, I was using Advan A032R. never figured running rich at the high end would be bad. live and learn.
