eg hatch b16a - Input needed on my build project
hi..
i hv some question about b16a on eg hatch.
current set up now is:
- stock motor b16a
- porting polish head
- 3 angle valve job
- 4-2-1 header
- cold air intake
- obd1 ecu with spoon map chip
this set up get best time 10,02 sec on 201m.
with all door and hood fiber and bad syncromesh on 3 gear.
my plan now is to add some mod:
- using complete dc2 gearbox witch hv 4,7 final
- using all cam shaft, spring, from b18 type r head to my current head (how about clearence?? will hit the p30 piston or not??)
how about my plan??
can i get better time on 201m or will it make it worse??
and what different between b16b type r cam with b18c type r cam (which 1 better for my set up)??
last can i use b16 type r piston?? (i scared about compression will bump much coz in my country there is no better fuel)
ok thx all...
sorry if my english bad.

Use the b16b civic type r cams.....the 4.78 final drive gear will help a lot....
Use the b16b civic type r pistons...
The valves will not hit the pistons if installed correctly...
The b16b intake cam has 2 degrees more duration than the b18 integra type r cam...both exuast cams are the same
If u have a b16/type r head you will be fine with 93 octane fuel......

Thx a lot for the info..
Really helpfull.
And then i heard some people say the valve from type r 1mm more bigger than stock b16.
Is't correct?
The dc2 gearbox will fit without prob to b16 block right?
And is't true that install type r piston to b16 connecting rod must do a little mod (must be cut some material about 1mm near the piston pin)???
Thx..

The valves are the same size
Yes the transmission will bolt up fine
No you will not need to modify the pistons...
The 4.78 final drive will make a dramatic difference
If your using a integra gsr transmission....the 1st gear from the gsr transmission will not fit on the JDM 4.78 final.drive. Some JDM 4.78 final drive kits come with first gear.....

Ok now it's clear enough for me.
I don't want to combine the gear or final drive but i put complete dc2 gearbox.
I think it is more enough for 1/8 mile which this box short enough i think.
Thx pal..
I will let u know my proggress...
Nice to share with u..
