sweet smell when heater on

Icon2 sweet smell when heater on

have a 1992 honda accord and when i turn the heater on it smells really sweet any ideas? even when i dont turn it on i get that wif

The only sweet smell that I could think of would be a coolant leak somewhere where it could blow in through your vents?

Yep, it's the heater core. If you have all the windows up with the heater on you're probably getting condensation/fogginess on the windows too....

I have a leaky radiator and mine is blowing in sweet smell when I'm at red lights. It can't just be a heater core, it can be many things from the engine bay.

If its a bad heater core, the customer would complain that there's coolant puddle on the passenger floor.

If it was the rad, he'd smell it all the time....

Mine has it at the radiator, and I don't smell it all the time because the car is moving due to airflow removing that sweet smell out of the engine bay. I can only smell it when I'm at the red light which will be when the car is sitting still.

So if the OP stated that he still get that wiff even if the heater is off meaning it is the heater core then.
