Default ep3 check engine light

I have a 02 si hatchback. The check engine light is on and I want to try to get the code out of it. Can I flash the codes like on older civics and integras or do I need to hook up to it with a scanner?

I've found out if you disconnect the battery and unplug the ecu for a few minutes it clear the codes. The question I'm asking is...Can you make the cel flash the codes at all? If so how do you do it?

You can use a paperclip jumper to pull the codes.

autozone stopped doing that for years, but if the autozone near you are nice, then they will gladly help you. but one close-by me, they're ******** & told me to buy a obd2 from them for $50. so i just drove down to walmart, and they checked it for free.. only because the worker wasn't busy.

The Autozone I was at a few days ago not only advertised it all over the place in the store, they did it for me. The guy told me they will not clear codes, only read them.
